National Apprenticeship Week 2024

This year the prestigious National Apprenticeship Week will run between the 5th of February to the 11th of February.

What is National Apprenticeship week 2024?

NAW is a week-long celebration that unites businesses and apprentices nationwide to highlight the beneficial influence that apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, and the broader economy. NAW is arguably the biggest event in the apprenticeship calendar!

This year's theme is skills for life, Apprenticeships play a crucial role in the development of individuals' skills and knowledge necessary for a fulfilling career, while also enabling employers to cultivate a workforce equipped with skills that are future-proof.

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee learns and gains valuable experiences. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend 205 of their working hours, completing classroom based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

An apprenticeship includes:

  • paid employment with holiday leave

  • Hands on experience in a sector of interest

  • at least 205 off-the-job training

  • Formal assessment which leads to a nationally recognised qualification
