Childcare and Playwork

A career in working with children offers the uniquely rewarding opportunity of having a positive impact on the development and lives of the next generation. Our apprenticeships and qualifications allow apprentices and learners to develop the skills necessary to work in both mainstream education and residential settings and with children with diverse needs and backgrounds.

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner 

This programme is designed for apprentices who want to develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours for a job role as an Early Years Practitioner.  The apprenticeship includes the Early Years Practitioner qualification at Level 2.

Level 3 Early Years Educator

This programme is designed for apprentices who want to further develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours for a job role involving Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as nursery nurse and childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. 

Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner

This programme is designed for apprentices who want to further develop their skills beyond Early Years Educator.

Ideal for anyone in a leadership position.

Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner

This programme is designed for apprentices who want to further develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours for a job role working with children, young people and families, including carers, to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. Successful completion of the programme will lead to an Apprenticeship Certificate as a Children, Young People and Families Practitioner.

Level 5 Children, Young People and Families Manager

This programme is designed for apprentices who want to further develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours for a job role managing within a children, young people and families environment to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. Successful completion of the programme will lead to an Apprenticeship Certificate as a Children, Young People and Families Manager.

Level 2  Playworker

This programme is designed for apprentices who work with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16 in play environments. It provides an understanding of playwork values, and the importance of play and playwork in children and young people's lives.

Before and After School Clubs, Adventure Playgrounds, Mobile Play Provision (e.g. Playbus).
